Anti Hammer Device

This device softens the blow of water rapidly stopping at a point in the water line where an appliance is connected. Appliances rapidly shut the water on and off, which causes the water volume to slam into the end of the run. That sudden stop creates the hammering affect. When you manually turn off a faucet, there is a gradual decrease in the volume of water that flow and thus no hammering affect. Modern plumbing codes required anti-hammer devices at the connection point for most electric appliances such as wash machines, dishwashers, and ice makers.
